“You dropped another 500 bucks on your credit card and you haven’t spoke to your sponsor? No wonder you are struggling! Seriously, what are you thinking?”
This was the start of a real conversation with a real person. I haven’t carved this conversation from my imagination. In order to protect the innocent… I am going to refer to this person as Bob!
Bob calls and is obviously upset! It appears that he has remortgaged his future and signed up for yet another program online that read like a free ride to the promised land.
It really isn’t Bob’s fault at all. It seems to be happening more and more today. You know what I am talking about. Sales copy that streches the truth to the point of dishonest representation. You have probably fallen prey to these marketing tactics at one time or another as well. I know I have!
Marketing copy & tactics that promise spillover, hands off automatic down line builders, and riches beyond your imagination are written by professional copy writers or marketers that have a great deal of experience. They are in the KNOW! They understand how to write a sales letter that can excite and entice you into believing that this is what you been waiting for. You can’t carry on without it! You gotta have it … and now!
Really I feel Bob’s pain, but he has to face the truth, he read the sales page with his eyes wide shut. He unfortunately downloaded the keyword phrases that promised the life changing “pearly gates” potential of the opportunity and took action. Then he sat back and waited for the action to begin.
In order to prevent this ever happening to Bob again, he agreed follow this simple (3) three step investigative procedure before he joins any MLM or Network Marketing Opportunity. You should too!
- Never sign up for anything that requires your credit card or shipping information. If you feel so compelled to buy into the next best thing wait and do yourself a favor. Save the web page to your favorites. If the opportunity is that good, it will still be here tomorrow. You have homework to do!
- Call your sponsor and find out what their personal experience has been. Has the program performed to her expectations? What online marketing experience does she have, and can she realistically help you? What is she like? She may lack experience but just may be a diamond in the ruff. Finally, ask her for 3 references from their down line that you can speak to. The deeper you can go in your sponsors group the more varied the opinions will be on their experience. you may even want to get referrals from the referrals to speak with.
- Call the program or online marketing system owner. Do they answer the phone? Do they phone you back when you leave a message? What about email? Have you tested the support desk? How long have they been in business? Have you Googled their name? What do other people think?
Makes sense? I thought it might.
It goes without saying if you find anything that does not sound or look right, you best stay away.
Bob went back and re-read the sales page and gave his head a slap! It turns out the guarantees required marketing action on his part!
Seriously? What are you thinking?
